John C. Henberger Jr. founded the Henberger Group in 2002 to assist owners of privately held, lower middle market businesses ($5 to $150 million) with exit planning and transition to transaction solutions.

John has extensive ownership and mid market merger & acquisition experience in manufacturing, distribution and high tech firms including systems integration. As an M&A advisor he has developed additional expertise in the wine industry. John has been a successful business owner in the Southern California area for over 35 years and successfully founded, acquired, ran and sold a variety of businesses in manufacturing, distribution and high tech industries.

As a business owner and a Mergers & Acquisition Advisor John felt that most business owners in the lower middle market are not ready to transition their business, whether they are transferring it internally to their children, managers or employees or externally to a third party. As a result John developed IntelligentExit® a comprehensive exit planning process that allows the business owner to plan their exit one to even five years in advance and be ready when the market or when the business owner is ready. IntelligentExit® takes into account business as well as personal readiness, taxes, legal, financial planning and other issues required to successfully exit and provides a written road map to a successful exit.

John is a Certified Mergers & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA). He is active with several industry associations including the Association for Corporate Growth and the Alliance of Mergers & Acquisition Advisors (ACG). John is Immediate Past President, Current Co-Chair for ACG’s Private Company Forum and past Program and Membership Chair for ACG (Association for Corporate Growth) in San Diego. John is also the former member of the board for CABB (California Associate of Business Brokers). He has served on the board of directors for the Association of High Technology Distribution (AHTD) and on the board of advisors for IBM's Manufacturing Systems Products Division. John was the Vendor Chairperson for ITE 2000 (International Transportation Engineers) International Convention and for many years served a variety of roles for the Scripps-Mercy Annual Golf Classic.
